INTRODUCTION:

Rev. Richard Lewis is a non-denominational, interfaith minister offering Spiritual, Contemporary, Traditional and Interfaith Ceremonies.

"I'Ho O'Kahi Kahi Ke Aloha - (To be one in love) - is an Hawaiian expression that most beautifully represents to me, the essence of the ceremony of marriage. It is a reminder that the universal longing which arises from the depths of the human heart, is and always will be for the soul to return to its original state of oneness. To reunite with the source of Unconditional Love."

To Be One in Love - a universal dream that men and women have endeavored to live and fulfill through the mystical ceremony of marriage for countless centuries. A ceremony that is cherished and respected by those who know of its magic to give wings to the human heart ... a sacred event that has the power to remind us of our true purpose for living, as it invites us ... "To be one in love ... I'Ho O'Kahi Kahi Ke Aloha"

There are those that dream and live for that perfect moment where the beloved enters their world ceremoniously, to sweep them off their feet and bring a sense of completion and wholeness into their lives. But do we really know what marriage is? Is it only about partnership and living happily ever after … forever? Or trying to fulfill a dream that we have been conditioned to believe in? Or could it be something deeper arising from a spiritual yearning?

Let’s start with the very word “Marriage” itself. Marriage, simply put, is “Union”! But union with who, with what? Is marriage solely a uniting of one persons soul with another or could it be a more auspicious occasion where we have an opportunity, as two human beings, to interface with a presence that is beyond our understanding? Even if it is just for a brief moment. To literally commune with God/Life/the Great Mystery (whatever you want to call it) through a presence that we call unconditional love. For if it is true that “God is Love” (as expressed in the bible) and the ceremony of marriage is a means to  initiate and consecrate two human beings into a state of union with one another and God, then it could be said that marriage is the ”Yoga of Intimacy”. Yoga in its purest form … engaged in through the unrestrained surrendering of two hearts to the mystery of love and consecrated through the power of the spoken word.

On the island of Maui, we certainly have all that is needed to be able to deliver, facilitate and experience the “Yoga of Intimacy”, with great ease and simplicity. The environment with its abundance of natural elements certainly transmits an abundance of life which supports and stimulates the human heart for an abundance of love to be shared and celebrated. It is a constant reminder of what is inherently natural and good in our lives, in spite of those occasions that occur where we tend to overlook the true priorities in life while being distracted by fears, worries, insecurities and worldly preoccupation.

To coordinate and facilitate a wedding … taking care of the details, the synchronizing and timing of activities while dealing with (more often than not) anxious and nervous brides, grooms and parents all at once ... is not always easy, however. You could say that we are on easy street though and living a paradise life in contrast to many of the disruptive, malevolent and catastrophic events that people are having to deal with throughout many other parts of the world. From this point of perception, we have an awesome opportunity, if not responsibility, to contribute to the rest of the world. In fact we are already playing an incredible part by contributing to the world as we serve humanity through the wedding industry, whether we know it or not. For in truth, regardless of the business dimension of the wedding industry, it is still a ministry at heart. A ministry that is conveying and facilitating the “Yoga of Intimacy” through the sacred ceremony of marriage. It is not only a special occasion for the bride and groom, but also an event that provides a reminder and a celebration for families and friends as they merge and unite together through the power of love. With this in mind, it could be said that all who participate in the wedding ministry from the officiants, to the coordinators, to the vendors, to the advertisers and anyone in between … all are contributing more beauty, more joy, more unity, more love to the world. There is no mistake why Maui is considered, by many, to be the #1 destination in the world for weddings.

What did the Beatles used to sing? … "All you need is love"

WEDDING COORDINATION:

Reverend Lewis also has an affordable Wedding Coordination Service available through his ministry with onsite coordinators to assist when necessary. For a list of wedding packages and a-la-carte services being offered, please phone or email.

Important: If you are in the process of working through another wedding coordination service which is already hiring Reverend Lewis to officiate your wedding ceremony, you may only engage in communication with Reverend Lewis with the understanding that his service being offered through your wedding planner is that of an officiant and nothing more. Please respect the wedding ministry and the professional vendors that operate within the wedding industry on Maui and especially their professional and caring relationship that they need to nurture and maintain between one another. Thank you very much ... Mahalo nui loa.
